PIWACKET THEATRE FOR CHILDREN captivates young audiences with cleverly adapted fairytales filled with catchy songs, fun dances, colorful costumes and magical props. Piwacket uses theatre to highlight character education, delivering messages of respect, cooperation, kindness and tolerance to hundreds of thousands of children and their families throughout the U.S. Last year Piwacket performed for over 25,000 children and their families. Piwacket was founded in 1989 and is produced by OFF The CUFF Productions, a not-for-profit-501(c)3 corporation. Piwacket can be seen regularly at five different theatres in St. Louis, Missouri and Illinois. MISSION & PURPOSE: Piwacket is a professional non-profit children's theatre focused on early childhood character education through live interactive dynamic performances and the electronic media. Piwacket creatively adapts fairy tales with catchy songs, fun dances and comical interaction to emphasize important values including; Literacy, Respect, and Bravery. Piwacket creators believe good moral character starts at an early age and reinforce these positive values with Performances, CDs and Videos. CHARACTER EDUCATION FOCUS For more than 14 years, creators Scott Sears, Edie Avioli and Charlotte Dougherty have written original 40-minute performances to educate children about the value of a strong character. Piwacket boosts self-efficacy, promotes communication, and builds character. In 2005, Piwacket's parent company, OFF The CUFF Productions, Inc. Purchased a 22,000 square foot building in Maplewood, Missouri which will become home to Piwacket Theatre for Children. The Black Cat Theatre will be a 200 seat traditional theatre which can convert to a 125 seat cabaret theatre. The Black Cat will offer performances, classes and workshops for children, teens and adults.
