Product Notes

Life Goes On was conceived during his brother's funeral. Life Goes On was recorded at Criteria Studios, Miami Florida. In the same studio, on the same tape stock as the sample it utilizes ( Jack and Diane, by John Mellencamp). PoeEtiq's lyrics focus on life, love and death. Influenced by Bob Dylan, Tupac Shakur and Will Smith. PoeEtiq has a unique, almost eccentric style combining a suit with 'flip-flop' sandals and anklets. A self-described 'enigma'; acknowledges that he rarely opens up. Voted 'Most Likely to Become a Hollywood Sex Symbol' by his fellow classmates. PoeEtiq is a Mainstream Rap artist currently from Miami, Florida. His new hit single Life Goes On was mastered at the Hit Factory, New York, NY. under record lable, PoeEtiq's Bio With his debut single,Life Goes On, PoeEtiq transcends the stereotypical rap image. Influenced by the suburban culture of North Dakota (Grand Forks), as well as the urban culture of South Florida (Miami), PoeEtiq produces a distinctive brand of rap, appealing to both mainstream and urban audiences. Voted 'Most Likely to Become a Hollywood Sex Symbol' by his fellow classmates, no one would have guessed that this one-time admitted playboy, would use his lyrical talents for anything other than depicting sex and glamour in his rap verses. Instead, PoeEtiq steers clear of his sex symbol tag, and focuses on more familiar topics- life, love and death. The subject of his song, Life Goes On, is a fine example of PoeEtiq's artistic approach. The song Focuses on the inevitability of dying, combined with Poe's belief that when someone dies, the lives that were close to the deceased must go on, and his spirit goes on within them. The Ridin Dirty Remix which is written as a (lyrical) theatrical drama, takes creativity to a new level. Poe faces the possibility of dying, as two charismatic bounty hunters, (played by newcomers, The Menace and OE) search for him, to collect payment for the various moral 'wrongs in life', commited in the past. Poe has experienced this first hand with the premature death of his closest brother, while in high school. Life Goes On was conceived during his brother's funeral. He discoverd the power of his words, when his teacher found lyrics of the song shortly after his brother's death. She beleived the Poe was cotemplating suicide. He was commited to a five-day suicide prevention program, against his will. ' I would never, ever consider taking my own life,' Poe contends. PoeEtiq's uncommon lyrics, is a direct reflection of his diverse influences. The depth of his songs, which are initially written as poems, is influenced most by artists, Tupac Shakur and Bob Dylan, who are known to have strong meanings in their works. On the other hand, Poe is also drawn to the technique of Will Smith. His Simplistic style can still get his story across. Poe's intention with his lyrics is to get the listener to pause for a moment after the song is over, and contemplate the meaning of his or her own life. To be put more simply, he wants his listeners to think. On his debut project, PoeEtiq agreed to work with new, independent lable, however, he insisted that only the industries best production resources be utilized. Poe's song, Life Goes On which contains a sampling of Jack and Diane by John Mellencamp, was recorded at the well known Criteria Recording Studios in Miami, FL, the same studios that Mellencamp used. Poe personally researched to insure that he used the exact room and tape stock as Mellencamp. He went even further in his pursuit for perfection by having the temperature in that room exactly the same. 'I wanted to maintainthe same 'feel' as the original,' Poe stated. The quality continues as it was mastered at the prestigious Hit Factory, in New York City. Life Goes On has a thought provoking, easy to follow lyrics and unique style, PoeEtiq appeals to the masses. Dubbed as the 'Michelangelo of the Rap Renaissance,' Poe has made it clear that he wants to be a leader in the new era of popular music. 'Through the grace of God, and through the power of my verses, I want to influence the minds of the young and old alike, as well as encourage them to engage in the common thoughts we all share in life, regardless of race or gender.'
