The debut CD from Poota Mack is a genre-bending collection of R&B and hip hop, dance, and quiet storm ballads. The prolific Maryland native who co-wrote all 22 tracks with producer Tilton Hood, wanted his CD to be a walk into his life "where people could discover a piece of themselves" showing how everyone's experiences intertwine in some way or another. The bang'n grooves never overpower the vocals, which are the highlight here. Songs like 'Salt in the Game' and 'The Hard Way' are reminiscent of Marvin Gaye at his best though Poota still manages to imprint his own unmistakable sound. The first single "Everybody Wanna Be Down" has a rock edge that shows Pooda can weave in and out of any style without abandoning the fiber that identifies a song as being owned by him. 'She's So Fly' and 'Lights Out' put you right in the middle of the dance floor and if ballads are your thing, "More Than Friends" and "EveryWhere I Go" deliver.
