Bio: William D. Foster. Drummer,Independent producer, Writer. I love many styles of music, but play Jazz because of it's freedom to express. Jazz can move as life does, Unexpectedly. My father played with Count Basie for a few weeks in Baltimore while on leave from the Army. Word had it he got the spot just before he was due back in camp, and decided that a sax chair in the band was better than anything the US Army had to give. So when he was more than a little late getting back to camp the army must have missed him and sent out the MP's- not the mp3's but the MP's (Big guy's guns.) Story goes he was dragged right off the bandstand while still trying to blow. Think about it. What would you do if you had a chance to play with the Count Basie Big Band? And so life drives us. The quartet on this CD was a surprise to some. The keyboard player, classically trained Robert Nicklas, had never played with the Master Jazz guitarist Dallas Dennis before, or the bass player Reggae star and New York side man Enoch Jackson (Rude Culture). But I had been playing and writing songs with Robert for over twenty years and playing with Dallas and Enoch for more than 15 years in a band called the Wolf Tones. Dallas is usually on time. Enoch is usually running a little late and Bob is some where in-between. Enoch had had a rough day and Bobby Trujillo Trumpet, Drums, and Percussion called and cancelled at the last minute. But this is the results of that session that one night. The results of putting players together who look at music from different points of view. Something we now call Free Form Fusion. The newest category in jazz.
