The Purple Doors Praise Band is a contemporary Christian genre band whose simple mission is to share faith and hope through music to persons of all ages and walks of life. The Purple Doors compose and perform original music along with covers of contemporary Christian hits and popular favorites. The band's sound ranges from folk acoustic to a light acoustic rock, blended with a traditional spiritual sound. "Music is our mission. Hope and faith is our message" says Phil Wesson, a singer/songwriter and instrumentalist with the group. The group plays at Lakeside United Methodist Church's contemporary worship service, "The Gathering", each Sunday, but also has established a mission of playing frequently for for vacation bible schools, youth camps, youth homes, hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes, addiction/recovery programs, prisons, and other special worship services. Loosely classified as Contemporary Christian, The Purple Doors music is tailored to each audience. "We certainly don't look at our music as a replacement for traditional church music, rather we see it as simply adding another way to communicate that reinforces the message", says Dave Sadler, another member of the group. "Music is a great communication tool that can be used to lift us all above the differences that set us apart", says Sadler.
