Product Notes

Jim QUEALY and Nola Shepherd met and began performing together in 2005. From the beginning, it was apparent that the grit in Jim's bluesy rasp mixed in a mysterious and magical way with Nola's smooth sultry vocals. Together they have produced a unique blend of Americana. Both are fans of and have performed a variety of musical genres. Their live shows reflect their diverse approach to music and provide the best venue to experience the powerful presence these two create on stage. Their current self-released CD, "The Nashville Sessions", is a compilation of lyric driven songs that were recorded for the purpose of plugging to other artists. While many of the duo's songwriting collaborations have been set aside for their next recording project which promises to reflect their live performance style, we think you'll enjoy the songs on Nashville Sessions, where Bob Rea, Spencer Crichtley, Dave Isaacs and Rick Stewart share writing credits with Jim & Nola. Jim grew up on Long Island, New York, and started playing the local club circuit at the age of seventeen. He has since lived and performed in New York City, London, Los Angeles, and now Nashville. He has won the New York Songwriters showcase grand prize, as well as Musician Magazine's "Best Unsigned Band". Jim has released six albums, two EP's, and several singles. As a songwriter, Quealy has been signed to several single song contracts as well as a staff writing deal with Criterion Music. He composed all of the material for Sue Hart's, jazz album, Private Book as well as contributing songs to countless independent projects. Nola grew up in the Midwest before finding herself in Boston, Massachusetts where she attended the Berklee College of Music and received her Bachelor of Music with a degree in Music Production & Engineering. While in Boston she sang in several bands ranging from jazz, soul, rock and country and even performed for Bill Clinton & John Kerry. Her most successful endeavor was the creation of 'Nola Rose & The Thorns', an award-winning country band who released a CD of original material titled 'Thought I Heard An Angel.' Material from the CD was used on TV shows 'Touched By An Angel', 'All My Children' and 'JAG'. Now in Nashville, she has sung on many songwriter demos and has several album credits. In 2003, Nola performed the national anthem live on ESPN for NHL team, the Nashville Predators; and in 2004 and 2006, she was invited back home to Iowa to perform with the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony for their Christmas Pops concerts.
