Born in Ílhavo (Portugal), he started playing when he was five. He completed the basic course in the Music Conservatory of Porto and studied with Rui Júnior in 83 with whom he participated in the project 'oÓqueSomTem?'. He took part in diverse workshops from which the most important were the ones he did with the 'PERCUSTRA', constituted by members of the Strasburg percussions, in 90. Since 82 he played in several musical formations, with genres from jazz to traditional Portuguese music. He played with Brigada Victor Jara from 90 to 2007 and he participated in countless tours through Europe, North America, Brasil, Canada and Macau with them. In 89 and 90, he taught in the Jazz school of Porto. He composed and collaborated in songs for films, TV shows and theater plays. With about one hundred participations in CDs, he played/plays with various national/international artists: João Paulo Estêves da Silva, António Pinho Vargas, Mário Laginha, Maria João, Zeca Medeiros, Fausto, Sergio Godinho, Janita Salomé, Vitorino, Pedro Jóia, Zé Eduardo, Charles Benavente, Jorge Pardo, Ralph Towner, Marcos Teira, and many others. In 2008, he made his first solo CD named "Da Cor da Madeira". With his homonymous project, he presented himself in many events in the country and abroad. Today, along with his solo project, he plays with: Pedro Jóia, Janita Salomé, Uxia, Fran Perez (Narf) and Zeca Medeiros. Along with his career has a musician, he also conducts regularly percussions and movement workshops.
