Ras Tonto was born the 8th of September 1973 in Sekondi, the capital of the Western Region of Ghana. He started his early school in Komenda and 1983 he moved with his family to Accra, the capital of Ghana. In 1987 he joined his first band called "Fire Lions Band". In the years between 1992 and 1995 Ras Tonto was playing with bands like "Root of David Band" and "Mystic Youth" doing both rhythm guitar, base, drums and vocals. In 1994 Ras Tonto formed a band called "A C E" (African, Carribean, Ethiopian Band), to back solo artists such as Bingi Noa from the "Noa House Band", Borky Marshall and JAH Marcus, all of them artists from Jamaica based in England. They also backed Pillar Hard, an artist from Nigeria and Teddy Guy from Ghana just to mention few of them. In 1997 Ras Tonto, together with some musicians from the neighbourhood, formed a group called "Rankin Crew" and in 2001 he and some friends put up another band "All Stars Band" with which he did many tours and shows. 2004 Razo Productions took Ras Tonto to the studio to do an album with the technical producer Maxi Dread and alongside with "All Stars Band". The inadequate finance forced them to record the whole album within ten days, which they managed to do. Six months later the company closed down and they sent him back all the material of the productions. In 2005 he did his own publishing and released the album called "Reaction". Some of the songs became big hits in Ghana which gave him a lot of shows and tours, one of the biggest was Panafest 2005 and also the tour with Daddy Root from the carribean island Anguela. In February 2006 the Rita & Bob Marley Foundation organized African Unite Concert on the 61st birthday celebration of Robert Nestor Marley in Kumasi and Accra. Ras Tonto was among the few reggae and hiplife artists from Ghana that they invited to play the shows, together with international artists like Culture, Steel Pulse, I Threes, C Sharp Band, Dean Frazer, Chackademus and Pliers, The Tamlins, Bongo Herman and the Marley..s (Damian, Stephen, Julian and Kymani). Ras Tonto was also performing at Ghana´s 50 years independent celebration in September 2007. Ras Tonto has been doing a lot of performances that have not been mentioned here and he is always ready to go on stage. His mission of music is to liberate people, make people feel good about themselves and to lift up there spiritual livity. As Ras Tonto see music as the food of the soul, one of the aims with his music is to feed people with a good message of unity, peace, love, justice, respect for humanity and equality. In December 2007 Ras Tonto moved to Sweden where he also has been doing many shows.
