Ray Doucet has has been writing and performing his own music since 1983. He feels he is on a journey to understand what the purpose of music is. By writing he has discovered that the closer he gets to understanding what music is the farther from his grasp music becomes. His main instrument is bass guitar, however he does contribute to drums, percussion, keyboards, harmonica and guitar on his new CD. His vocal style is a cross between Sting, Peter Gabriel and the Crash Test Dummies. He say's his phrasing comes from listening to Sting, the rasp in his voice comes from Peter Gabriel's influence, and the tone comes from the Crash Test Dummies. The new CD is a selection of new songs inspired by the people in his life and songs of a troubled mind that can't quite understand the way's of the world. 'I guess I'm a hippy at heart, because I can't understand why we all just can't get along' He say's 'To say more about the lyrics might take some of the fun out of the listeners psychological profiling of the writer.'
