Where did it all begin? 'About fifth grade' says Rickie. 'That's when I first began learning to play drums. I must have worn out every dashboard of every vehicle Mom and Dad owned during that time.' That was just the beginning for Rickie. Throughout his school years he continued working on his music and learning to play different instruments. Artists such as The Temptations, the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival and later Chicago, the Eagles, Steely Dan, Earth, Wind and Fire, the Doobie Brothers and Delbert McClinton influenced him. The result can be heard on his first solo CD which has produced rave reviews and enough encouragement to get him back in the studio for another project scheduled to debut in the spring of 2003. Wade Daffron of the The Russell Register had this to say about Rickie 'If you know anything about music at all in this area, then you know Rickie Mann. As a matter of fact, you can probably use the word 'legendary' when speaking of the multi-talented musician/singer/songwriter from Jamestown.' Rickie has been a part of several bands including Mystic Sounds, Eloquence, The Sterlings, and Rebel Heart. The bands have played for such notables as Jefferson Starship, Survivor, George Jones, Molly Hatchet, Steve Wariner, Daryle Singletary and Tim McGraw. When asked about his music journey, Rickie had this to say: 'It sometimes seems like a long journey since that first tap on the snare drum. Music has provided many opportunities to go places and make many great friends. My dream has been and continues to be 'having a hit song'. Whether I sing that song myself or another artist performs it does not matter. I will live and breathe music regardless of the outcome until I die. I owe it to myself and especially to my Mom and Dad.' POINTS OF NOTE: Much of Rickie Mann's music on his first two solo projects centers on typical love relationships in an uplifting and sometimes whimsical direction. Let's just say they are experimental excursions through the world of rock and blues. He has previously released 3 CD projects; one with a southern rock and roll group by the name of REBEL HEART in which 6 of the 12 tracks were written by Rickie, an r&b solo project entitled, BACK TO THE BASICS which included all his original songs and also a compilation of various country, bluegrass and gospel originals. ADDITIONAL DATA: Rickie views himself primarily as a songwriter first, an artist second. Being solely independent is allowing him to stretch his musical dreams into many directions such as the beginning of a 'melting pot' gospel album with all originals due for release in the summer of 2004. In addition to this are also a southern rock and roll project, a return to the rock and blues arena, a country/folk excursion, a trip to the jazz/funk experience and an array of others not yet planned. These upcoming projects will all contain his original music. CONTACT INFO: Rickie Mann STUDIO: 270 343-3553 Ram Jam Records E-MAIL: firstname.lastname@example.org P.O. Box 173 Jamestown, KY 42629.
