Prodigal Son the Untold Story[CD]
Shannon McHenry: Bio Shannon McHenry's desire is to fulfill the vision God has for his life. Shannon has been blessed with many musical abilities such as producing, composing, song writing and vocal arranging. Shannon wants to drastically change lives so that people will see their need for God through the ministering of his music. Shannon says, "My music does not have a particular set sound or feel such as, 'straight gospel' or 'contemporary gospel'.It is what it is' In the past few years Shannon has been blessed to start his own production company called, "Highest Praise Productions Inc.". Eventually Shannon would like to train and establish new and upcoming artists on his label, "S. McHenry Music Series". Shannon has total faith in God and the direction He has for his life. Shannon is going to take gospel to a whole different phase! Where Kirk left off, Shannon McHenry will go to an even higher level. Shannon is a self-taught drummer. At the age of 7 or 8, he began playing at his father's church. Shannon has always felt that God had predestined his life for great things. He first saw Fred Hammond perform at the church of one of his father's Pastorfriends. That's when the desire to perform started to grow. A few years later, Shannon had the opportunity to be backstage at one of Mr. Hammond's concerts. He was amazed by the atmosphere. So amazed, he helped load up the equipment after the concert and walked onto the tour bus with the rest of the crew and left with them. Shannon's parents were not happy about this and gave Mr. H a call and of course Shannon was sent home. This didn't stop him He became more determined to meet Mr. Fred Hammond again and become a part of the whole 'gospel vibe'! The next year Shannon got married and his determination was just as strong as ever. Shannon got to know Mr. H's drummer, Marv, and persuaded him to let him know when and were they would be performing. Shannon told his new wife and bought a ticket for the long 2-day bus ride to Lakeland, Fl. Without cab fair Shannon found himself walking to the hotel were Mr. H and his crew were staying. When he arrived at the hotel, he helped the crew with the equipment, again. As Mr. H came by Shannon grew nervous, he was not going to get sent home again. Mr. H didn't say anything. He just gave him a look that said, "What, that kid is back here again!" Shannon stuck around and helped out. Eventually one of the guys took him under his wing and before he knew it he was a roadie/truck driver. He wasn't paid for anything but to Shannon it didn't matter. The grunt work (e.g. running for hot sauce, cleaning dirty car rims) was no problem. He was just happy to be in the whole Face to Face Production atmosphere. During those six years of being allowed to hang around Shannon supported his growing family by working construction and other odd jobs that weren't fufilling to him. Shannon knew this was not what God had planned for him. So he kept going back. He learned so much about the background aspects of the business- touring, the hard labor, production, the whole studio/engineering aspect and the money. Even though he met a lot of famous people in the gospel business, Kirk, Yolonda, Donnie, Martha Munizzi to name a few, Shannon still had not actually talked face to face with the man who would become his mentor, Mr. Fred Hammond. It took a particular incident to prompt Shannon to call him personally and talk to him. After that, Shannon and Hammond became friends. Today, God has blessed Shannon to produce all of the songs on his album. He also arranged, wrote and co-wrote most of the songs. He has played drums on Jazz Recording Artist,Pierre Copeland's latest CD titled, "Low Down and Dirty". Shannon has had many offers to write, compose and play drums in the secular music arena but has turned them down. During all these years, God has been leading him to this point. A'prophetic word' given to him confirms that this is the direction God is taking his life. By His grace Shannon is going to do whatever it is God is leading him to do in the 'Gospel Arena'!
