Inner Door is a newly formed ensemble of musicians from New York State's mid-Hudson region. Basing their style in instrumental jazz, the quartet draws upon a number of varied musical influences to form a distinct and recognizable vibe all their own. Their repertoire combines primarily original material by Steve Raleigh, with select compositions by past and present jazz masters, and features Steve Raleigh on guitar, Charles Frommer on saxophone, bassist Lew Scott and Joe Carozza on drums. Steve Raleigh, guitarist/composer/educator, has taught and performed extensively in the Tri-State area for the past 15 years and has shared the stage with such notables as Nick Brignola, Lynn Seaton, Evelyn Blakey, and Larry Campbell (The Bob Dylan Band). He has recorded several CD's under his own name and has been featured and reviewed in many publications including Guitar World Magazine, Recording Magazine, Billboard, Rhythm & News, as well as many regional newspapers. George Fletcher of the Poughkeepsie Journal wrote '...Steve's use of melodies and clean, classy rhythms ...is the stuff of the big boys and just plain on the mark... fiery guitaring ...terrific..' Charles Frommer, saxophonist for Inner Door, began playing professionally while still in high school in his hometown of Bloomington, Indiana. He moved to Boston to attend New England Conservatory, where he studied with Ran Blake, Joe Allard and Douglas Buys, and continued his career in New York, doing freelance club, recording, and theatrical work involving a wide variety of musical styles. The Bassist for the group is Lew Scott. Born in Texas and currently residing in New Paltz, NY, Lew is one of most in demand bass players in the Hudson Valley. Besides his duties with Inner Door, he gigs almost every night of the week and has performed with such notables as Conte Condoli, Frank Rosolino, Clark Terry, and Herb Ellis. He currently tours occasionally with singers Lainie Kazan and Melba Moore. Drummer Joe Carozza, born in Wappingers Falls, NY, attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated in 1988. Since then he has performed on the American Hawaii Cruise Lines and has since shared the stage with many jazz greats including Gary Burton, James Williams, Nick Brignola, Joshua Breakstone, Turk Maro to name only a few. Joe is owner of JC's Drum School and lives in Milton NY, with his wife Andrea, and three children, Amber, Vincent, and Nicholas.
