There are not too many artists around like these two Red Hot Chili Peppers who can create such a wide variety of music. The album is full of synths, programmed elements and drum machines, but it still sounds like two guys in the same room playing everything 'live' (which is likely how it was), with little imperfections left in to retain the authenticity. If you allow yourself to get lost in the songs on this album it is an amazing experience that begs for repeat listens. Despite frequently working together this is a collaboration of John Frusciante and John Klinghoffer in the true sense of the word, by making one of the most captivating records of the many they released during a brief amount of time.
