At inner-city Philly's underfunded Willard R. Abbott Elementary, positive second-grade teacher Janine Teagues (series creator Quinta Brunson) proved one of those rarities who doesn't burn out after two years. Her efforts along with her dedicated colleagues to reach the kids, in spite of obtuse principal Ava Coleman (Janelle James), fuel this acclaimed ABC workplace mockumentary sitcom.
