Armenian music, both religious and secular, has a distinct tradition that can be traced back to the third century BC. In Armenian Choral Music, the Armenian National Choral Society of Boston sings a mixture of contemporary compositions and choral settings of traditional Armenian hymns and songs. Though all the lyrics are in Armenian, speakers of any language can appreciate the power of the rich harmonies in the music. The liner notes contain the lyrics for all 18 pieces in the original Armenian (both in Armenian script and in English transliteration) and translated into English. A brief history of each song is provided by the choir's director, Siranoush Der-Manuelian.
