If you ask B J how she writes her music, she'll have to tell you how mysterious it is to her. 'Sometimes, a phrase, a rhythm, or a few notes of a melody will play in my head and draw me relentlessly to the keyboard'. 'It seems to happen mostly at night when the world quiets down and I come under the spell of this quietude. It is a call to my soul, it is like contemplation. In this place, I loose track of time and space and there is just me, the keyboard and the sounds coming through the keyboard. Nothing is pre-ordered or pre-arranged'. 'The song or a musical piece is created in the one setting. I play and record a base for the musical piece, usually in the voice of piano. When I listen back to this section, other instruments come to mind and I play the voices of the pan flute, vibraphone, strings, saxophone or English horn, in unison, harmony or counter point to what I have just written. When the musical piece ends and I listen back to the music just completed, it is magical to me'. 'I hope you enjoy the music!' B J.
