Product Notes
Mendelssohn's much loved Konzertstücke Opp. 113 and 114 are coupled with his lesser known clarinet sonata, and charming transcriptions of some of his Songs Without Words. This is a culinary release of Romantic favorites! Dmitri Ashkenazy's playing produces what might be the most human sound a clarinet can make. He was born in 1969 in New York as one of the children of Vladimir Ashkenazy. He spent his childhood living in Iceland before his parents moved the whole family to Switzerland, where he still lives. Among the most universal musicians, he has jetted around the globe for over twenty years. He has a large solo repertoire, is a highly appreciated chamber musician and occasionally fills in with well and lesser-known orchestras.
