Product Notes
The complete album + bonus track - limited edition pressing on 180g crystal clear vinyl. Recoded at Rudy Van Gelder's famed studio in Hackensack, New Jersey in January 1957, this pivotal album in Coltrane's discography was his only session as leader for Blue Note Records. The album marked the first time he was given full rein to select his own sidemen for a date, and when asked in a 1960 radio interview which was his favourite of all the albums he'd recorded up to that point, his instant reply was, 'Blue Train'. Coltrane wrote four of the record's five tracks and his playing exhibits early elements of the signature style for which he later became known.
