Bohren & der Club of Gore have long been a phenomenon that spans scenes and genres and is popular all over the world. The quartet from Mühlheim an der Ruhr comes from the hardcore and metal scene and has played together in numerous previous formations since the late eighties. Since 1992 as BOHREN, active from 1993 with the addition of CLUB OF GORE, the band has developed from it's musical roots to a uniquely dark slow-motion instrumental sound up to the debut album. MORTEN GASS (piano, Rhodes), ROBIN RODENBERG (bass), REINER HENSELEIT (guitar) and THORSTEN BENNING (drums) succeeded in translating the intensity, heaviness and gloom of metal / hardcore into an atmospherically threatening, deep black soundscape, who formulated an unmistakable musical signature between ambient, doom, lounge jazz and drones.
