"There are only three real female singers in the world, Barbra Streisand, Linda Ronstadt and Connie Smith. The rest of us are only pretending." Dolly Parton. The four albums in this collection dating from 1966 to 1968 are all produced by Bob Ferguson who would remain working with the singer throughout her RCA days. 'Soul of Country Music', 'I Love Charley Brown' and 'Sunshine and Rain' appear for the first time on CD. Chet Atkins, who signed Connie to RCA Records in 1964, claimed "she had the finest Country voice I'd ever heard." George Jones cited Connie Smith as his favourite female singer in his 1995 autobiography. Elvis Presley had many Connie Smith albums in his collection at Graceland. A CMT (Country Music Television) poll ranked Connie Smith 9th in it's Top 40 Greatest Women of Country Music and she received the ultimate recognition of her achievements with induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012.
