This swell collection contains some of the better known songs of Huddie 'Leadbelly' Ledbetter - who was discovered in the Louisiana State Penitentiary by the father and son team of musical historians John and Alan Lomax in the 1930s. Featured here are the well known songs Good Night Irene, Bourgeois Blues, and the Boll Weevil Song, plus Gallis Pole, which was remade as Gallows Pole by Led Zeppelin on Led Zeppelin III, and Leadbelly's version of Black Betty.
