Though conjured as a party record, Joy City came together during two years of love, loss, depression, and aggression in a world ravaged by political and physical disease. Joy City is deeply personal and a body of work that served as a point of focus, a vessel of energy and positivity to keep the Brothers afloat in intense times. Songs like "Joy City Part 1" (and Part 2!) and "Future Thoughts" are outlets of anger and gestures of love and support for marginalized members of their community.
