Product Notes
This is the first CD release that offers an overview of her recordings for the Coral, Fraternity, Smash and Laurie labels in America and the Vogue Coral, London, Columbia and Stateside labels in Britain including a choice selection of single releases and album tracks. It contains all her recordings that made the U. S. singles chart and the two that got no further than the 'bubbling under' section - it also includes both versions of her biggest hit Ivory Tower. Included are songs written by Artie Singer, Sammy Cahn, Bernie Lowe and Kal Mann, Bacharach & David, Phil Spector, Paul Vance, Aaron Schroeder and Sid Wayne and one by Atlantic Records owners Ahmet Ertegun and Jerry Wexler with their main studio engineer Tom Dowd. The comprehensive liner notes trace her life from childhood in the Bronx to her time as a band singer, stardom and through to her death at the age of just fifty-two and includes the story of her 'nearly' release in Britain in 1955. This package will introduce Cathy Carr to a new audience as well as give existing fans a chance to have the best of her output on a digitally remastered CD for the first time.
