Product Notes
Australian superstar singer-songwriter-musician Billy Thorpe teamed with acclaimed producer, arranger and songwriter, Spencer Proffer to create 1979's Children of the Sun, a concept album about benevolent aliens visiting a post-Apocalyptic earth to offer the surviving humans a second chance. Title track "Children of the Sun" was entirely unique, gloriously melodic with a house shaking foundation from the legendary rhythm section of Lee Sklar (bass) and Alvin Taylor (drums), and utterly audacious for it's time. Adorned with artwork as bold as the record, the album reached the top of the U.S. charts and sold over 1 Million copies with the title track "Children of the Sun" remaining a staple of FM and rock radio through the decades as well as a highly played track on SiriusXM's Deep Tracks channel. Iconoclassic Records presents the long-awaited and much-requested CD of the original 1979 mix of Children of the Sun, remastered by Wouter Bessels with the approval of both Spencer Proffer and album engineer, Larry Brown. The release features restored artwork, extensive liner notes by Ralph Chapman, and fresh interviews with Proffer, Brown, and Taylor.
