Product Notes
In Cairo's train station, mildly hobbled newsie Qenawi (Youssef Chahine, who directed) developed an unhealthy fixation with beautiful beverage hawker Hannumah (Hind Rostom). Engaged as she was to porter and labor leader Abu-Sri (Farid Shawqi), she rebuffed his advances... but his determination that no one else could have her would bring about violent and stunning twists. Acclaimed, dismissed-in-it's-day neorealist crime saga also stars Hassan el Baroudi. 77 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: Arabic; Subtitles: English; bonus documentaries "Cairo as Seen by Chahine" (1991), "Chahine... Why?" (2009); featurettes. In Arabic with English subtitles.
