Crossing Borders 2: C18 Musical Travels Across the Italian Border follows La Serenissima and director Adrian Chandler as they explore the cultural exchange between Italy and the rest of Europe in the eighteenth century. The programme brings together works by composers whose careers took them far from their origins, including Vivaldi concertos composed during his travels to Vienna and Prague, an orchestral suite by Italian-born Brescianello written in the French style at the Wurttemberg court, and works by Corbett and Ariosti - both Italianate composers with shadowy careers as suspected spies. Telemann's Ouverture-Suite in A minor rounds off the programme.
