Product Notes

Dayna Brown teams up with Dan Fox, Joe Reid and Barry J. Lit in her first pro EP release to perform some of her long-time favorites and new musical sparks. Jazz is Dayna's second language. It's her most expressive and intimate genre, although she comes from a diverse musical background. Trained in jazz, classical and operatic music, Dayna Brown graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell with a dual degree in Vocal Performance and Music Business. She has been singing since childhood, when she became involved in many choirs, organizations and musical theater productions over the years. A lover of jazz, soul and rock, Dayna has had many musical experiences throughout her college career, including performing with several diverse local groups such as The Majors, a 9-piece wedding ensemble, and The JBC, an original funk/rock quartet. She was a featured singer on the album, Chill Out: East Coast Edition Volume 10 performing with Last Second Decision. In 2008 she performed in the PBS production "Handel's Messiah Rocks" at the Cutler Majestic Theatre in Boston, MA, which later aired on national television. She has worked with the Lowell Festival Foundation hosting Lowell Summer Music Series in the summers of 2008-2009. She is no stranger to recording, cutting several tracks in Umass Lowell's world renowned studio. Her live and studio recordings produced throughout her college career earned her the honor of being a featured artist on Indaba Music in October 2009. After college, Dayna performed briefly with the Boston Cecilia, one of Boston's oldest and most prestigious choirs under the direction of Donald Teeters. Subsequently, she embarked on a completely new endeavor... a cappella music. She became a member of Funkin' A! a cappella out of Cambridge, MA and frequently performs with this group as a soloist, ensemble singer, music arranger and music director. She continues to perform in Boston and hopes to expand her listener base through this EP. Her career goals are to continue to develop as a jazz vocalist and solo musician, with her focus on becoming a true vehicle for emotion through her performances.
