Product Notes
2014 expanded reissue of the1984 French Lolita label compilation. It's packaged in a digipak with rare photos & extensive liner notes by co-producer Dan Vallor, along with a remembrance from the Three O'Clock's Michael Quercio-who not only produced the band's Distortion EP, but eventually became a member of Game Theory.'Dead Center' includes selected tracks from GameTheory's two previous EPs, 'Pointed Accounts of People You Know' & 'Distortion', adding two previously unissued performances plus an additional eleven bonus tracks! 'Dead Center', named after an unused track recorded for Option Magazine, originally also contained a version of the Box Top's "The Letter" (originally sung by Big Star's Alex Chilton). That song is joined on this reissue with unreleased material including other covers like "No Matter What" (Badfinger), "Mother of Pearl" (Roxy Music), "Radio Free Europe" (R.E.M.), "Gloria" (Them/Van Morrison) and more. Add in live versions of Game Theory classics like "Metal And Glass Exact" and "Shark Pretty," and 'Dead Center' becomes an even more important release in the Game Theory catalog. Dead Center has been out of print for decades. This reissue not only rectifies that, but presents Game Theory's early material in the revered way it deserves.
