Product Notes
On his 6th full-length album, "DIG", Los Angeles producer and DJ Captain Planet takes direct aim at the dance floor, bringing his unique blend of global music styles and high energy dance music powerfully into focus. The album recreates the dynamic joyful energy and eclectic intercontinental sound of Captain Planet's world renowned live DJ sets, which have electrified crowds in clubs and festivals throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, as well as at home in the US.
DIG highlights the Captain's impeccable ability to sample and re-interpret music from a wide range of folkloric traditions, as well as his own production prowess- rooted in heavy bass, cracking drums and forward thinking electronic funk. The album features vocalists from Brazil, Colombia, Haiti, Nigeria, Ghana and Angola, whose songs are given a new life over the Captain's signature infectious dance beats. Captain Planet had the honor of re-working classic material by the legendary Afrobeat pioneer & co-creator Tony Allen, for a certified banger "Tony's House" that is currently receiving massive support from major DJ's at festivals all over the world. After a long climactic build, the album closes out on a mellower vibe, with "Thirst No More" which was made using nature sounds recorded by Greenpeace workers and "Mi Calor", a soul wrenching song featuring long-time collaborator Chico Mann. Throughout the album, Captain Planet exhibits his deep connection to Afro, Latin & Caribbean music styles, and his intuitive ability, honed over more than two decades, to make people move.Credits
