Description
The Eddie and the Cruisers franchise chronicles the rise, fall, and resurrection of an iconic, fictional 1960s rock band led by enigmatic frontman Eddie Wilson (Michael Paré), exploring the enduring legacy of his music and the deep-seated mysteries surrounding his tragic disappearance. The original Eddie and the Cruisers (1983) follows a contemporary journalist (Ellen Barkin) trying to track down the band's long-lost second album while interviewing former members-including lyrics writer Frank Ridgeway (Tom Berenger), manager Doc Robbins (Joe Pantoliano), and bassist Sal Amato (Matthew Laurance)-all while uncovering clues that Eddie may have faked his fatal car crash. The sequel, Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives! (1989), reveals that Eddie is indeed alive and working under a pseudonym in Montreal, where with the help of a new love interest (Marina Orsini) and a fiery young guitarist (Bernie Coulson), he confronts his past, forms a brand new backing band, and finally reclaims his musical legacy.
