The second volume of Freestyle Candies is compiled by Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wuttke of Alter Ego. The audio material is accompanied by a DVD which includes videos of all tracks made by students of the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach am Main under the direction of Professor Heiner Blum. The beautiful artwork and packaging is in reference to the long deleted first volume and was designed by Domingo Molina Cortes who is also one of the featured video artists. It's a strictly limited edition celebrating the 100th Klang Elektronik release. Freestyle Candies II documents the status quo of independently produced music and it's visualisation through video clips. The added value, which DVDs clearly convey, is the quality. Firstly, that of the music - the crème de la crème of the empire of sound - secondly, of course, the quality of the clips themselves which come from a number of young video artists of the Offenbach Academy of Art. Be it ironic images or self-irony of the makers, sensitive narration or diary-like stories, comic strips or sophisticatedly generated technical forms and patterns - the clips seem to summarize what has being going on in this genre and it's sub-genres in the last ten years. So compact and entertaining, so clear-cut and dubious, there'll never be anything like it ever again."
