"My children attend a Hebrew day school and a large part of their Jewish heritage was learned through song. As I listened with them, I heard the tragedy of Jewish suffering as well as the joy of Jewish survival. Some of these melodies lent themselves to interpretation, so I decided to record a few on a nylon string guitar. My hope was to modernize these songs and make them accessible and enjoyable to people from all walks of life."-Greg Kavanagh. Original cover art commissioned for this album by Meni Conen. Born in Israel, Meni came to Canada in 1987. In 1992 he became one of the founding members & for several years the chair of the Israeli Artists Group of Toronto.
