Marshal Matt Dillon (James Arness) faces multiple challenges in GUNSMOKE: The Sixteenth Season, a new-to-DVD, 24-episode collection of classic tales of the Old West. Wily junk dealer Dirty Sally pays her first visit to Dodge, crazed Jaekel, obsessed with his ex-wife, assaults Festus (Ken Curtis), female physician Sam McTavish, M.D. tests Doc's (Milburn Stone) dominance, and against the backdrop of spectacular scenery in Taos, New Mexico and the snow-covered Back Hills in Custer, South Dakota, Dillion pursues crafty quarry Chato, and holds off marauding Indians intent on capturing a Snow Train.* This set of full-length episodes, newly restored and remastered for outstanding picture and superior sound, is a keeper.
