Trumpeter Irvin Mayfield was commissioned by the New Orleans Museum of Art in 2000 to compose a suite of music dedicated to the great artist Gordon Parks for the opening of his exhibit "Half Past Autumn," and Mayfield and his quintet performed the music for Parks on opening night of the exhibition. The inspiration for the music came from Parks' photographs as Mayfield matched the photos with musical images. Special guests include Gordon Parks on piano and Wynton Marsalis on trumpet.
