Product Notes
Emilio Merola presents his debut recording for Clarinet & Saxophone Classics after being awarded in several national and international prizes. Featuring the clarinet in the glorious setting of jazz/classical music, this hybrid jazzical programme of original works is stunningly played by an artist who could make history for his way of playing and conceiving musical forms. Technically polished, seductively musical, this recording will quite simply wow listeners. A joy from beginning to end. The aesthetics of Hybrid Mind is the result of Emilio's heterogenous musical experiences and background, blending modern and classical elements in a coherent narrative. The intricate counterpointistic arrangements, meticulously and accurately played, suddenly become the starting point of spontaneous and playful moments of improvisation. From sinuous virtuosity to more descriptive scenarios, the listener will be delighted through different sonorities and instrumentations, from duos to sextets, also thanks to the synergy and interplay of talented musicians: pianists Lello Petrarca and Simona Padula, vibraphonist Gianluca Manfredonia, violinist and violist Armand Priftuli, cellist Artan Tauzi and clarinetist Gaetano Falzarano. The album includes Emilio Merola's compositions, the famous Clarinettologia by Gaspare Tirincanti and the world premiere recording of Motion Train by Ernesto Sparago.
