Product Notes
Keenly awaited re-press of the self-titled debut album from the seminal British R&B band, Vinegar Joe. Vinegar Joe were fronted by the vocal talents of Robert Palmer and Elkie Brooks, who formed the band after the demise of the experimental jazz rockists, Dada. The album was originally released in 1972 on Island Records. This CD includes one bonus track "Speed Queen Of Ventura", the flip side of the single taken from this album "Never Met A Dog". The CD booklet features sleeve notes and UK discography, including images of the 3 albums that the band released before their split in 1973. Elkie Brooks went to become for a period the UK's best-selling female artist, enjoying very successful charting albums in the 70's and 80's. Her reputation continues as much loved and respected artist. Robert Palmer also went solo after the band's split. He recorded many successful albums for Island Records before enjoying a worldwide smash with "Addicted To Love" from the 80's multi-million selling album "Riptide". Sadly Palmer suffered a heart attack and died in Paris in 2003.
