It comprises eighteen of his early hits, alongside a dozen cuts which started life as either B-sides or album tracks. Benton possessed one of the classiest, most readily-identifiable baritones in the history of Popular Music. Yet he was by no means an overnight success, and it took him a few years to make it. However, between 1959 and the mid 60s he recorded a near-faultless body of work, for the Mercury label, and sold millions of records.
