Jesus Wept
- Artist: Piney Gir
- Format: CD
- Release Date: 2/19/2016

Product Notes
2010 release from the singer/songwriter. Piney Gir taunts traditional country music with a big city edge. Jesus Wept is a nod to Piney's strict religious upbringing and her urge to walk the line between naughty and nice. There comes a time when everyone should question their faith and Piney (with the help of her trusty Roadshow) has channeled that into a record. It's Ingmar Bergman's Seventh Seal twisted through the eyes of a local drunk at the truck stop honky tonk. Piney has been hailed an 'indie Dolly Parton'" but this album is more Emmy Lou Harris in her Graham Parsons days: it's little girl lost; it's the devil in disguise and the devil looks good. Jesus Wept is Piney's book of revelations and she's taking you with her to heaven and back. Angela Penhaligon AKA Piney Gir is a singer/songwriter born in Kansas but based in London, England since 1998. Piney's musical style is predominately edgy indie-pop, although she has been described both as a musical "chameleon" and as "the indie Dolly Parton". Piney has collaborated with artists including Andy Ramsay of Stereolab, Rob Campanella from The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Eamon Hamilton from the band Brakes and British Sea Power and Simple Kid, and was a member of cult all-girl band The Schla La Las. Her songs have appeared on Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Hit & Miss, Made in Chelsea, Misfits, Drifters, Waterloo Road, Being Human, Fried, Talking to the Dead, What Remains, Switch and in feature films: Nina Forever, You're Not You, C'e Chi Dice No and American Girl.
