Product Notes
Kobutsu, a saxophone-front band from Yamanashi, has released their second album 'Ni'! The band irreverently mixes the spirit of no wave with Showa era pop music, and their eccentric musicality is a mess of odd time signatures and repetitive riffs.
The first mini album released in 2019 has attracted a wide range of fans, including avant-rock, punk/hardcore listeners, contemporary art people, and entertainers, with it's thrilling sound that combines a tight sense of speed, complex fracture rhythms, and a recommended ensemble. In this work, the guitar work shows even more cutting-edge extremity, the bass line that sublimates complex rhythms into a groove, the genius drum approach of 'Charles Hayward of Yamanashi', and the saxophone that combines roughness and elegance and moves freely add vivid color to the songs. The songs included include the Kobotoke style obscene song 'Dame na Hi' with saxophonist Marorio Sano on vocals, 'Showa' with it's moody melody and chaotic sudden development, and a newly recorded version of 'ruci1300', which has also appeared on a compilation CD packed with Japanese punk/alternative live scenes and is a popular live staple. In addition, 'TSU-MA-MI' featuring guest Eri Eureka (vo.) and bonus tracks including improvised songs are also included, making this a powerful album that fully showcases the band's current state and evolution!Credits
