Amanda Thorpe and Philip Shelley have been writing songs together for more than two decades, across continents and changing musical lives. English-born Thorpe made her name in New York with Wirebirds before releasing four solo albums; Shelley came up through the city's CBGB-era scene with art-pop band Student Teachers and later played in Pianosaurus. Late Night, Albert Bridge is their first full-length album as a duo: 13 originals about love, loss, and getting older, moving from garage-pop bustle to string-laden torch songs and quietly unfolding folk. The title track brings the hooks, "Down in the Basement" revisits youthful dreams, and "Finding Another Way" makes room for renewal. Recorded by Kevin Harris at WstLvn Studios in London. For fans of Marianne Faithfull, Richard & Linda Thompson, The Rails, and Aimee Mann. CD in a four-panel digisleeve.
