Ullmann plays Leonor, a beautiful woman who dies at the beginning of the film. Upon her death her widower (Piccoli) instantly remarries literally on the same day. But ten years and two sons later, Piccoli still yearns for his dead first wife. He's eventually shown a way (at heavy cost) to bring her back from the dead. It's a big mistake, though, as LIV begins stalking the countryside, looking for little kids to murder! All this happens while the black plague is decimating the countryside. Cool ending, but this is one of those, is the monster really dead? kind of movies. A fine Euro horror effort. Great color, 35mm
