A fine blues singer who would no doubt have fared better during the classic blues boom of the 1920s and 1930s, Lil Green was apparently born too late to take advantage of her lineage from Bessie Smith and Ida Cox. Her late 1940s recordings even tried to pair her with a jazzy band to emulate the ancient vaudeville-styled blues of her idols. This, the third and last CD in the series of Lil Green's complete recordings continues with the late 1940s big band recording sessions for RCA Victor. Understandably Lil's usual blues took a backseat to jazzier items and show tunes such as "Them There Eyes", "I Want a Man", "Aggravatin' Papa", and Bessie Smith's classics "You've Been A Good Old Wagon (But You Done Broke Down)" and "Outside Of That".
