"Sick of Love" shows Luca solidly coming into their own. The confident, melodic, and expressive rhythm section roots the band in a timeless way. Nick Luca, along with special guests (Joey Burns and John Convertino of Calexico, M Ward, Howe Gelb of Giant Sand, Tony Furtado, Chris Scruggs, Jon Rauhouse of Neko Case) are then free to layer a tapestry of vocals, guitars, keyboards, harmonicas, and an assortment of slide and steel guitars. The songs are catchy, the performances are excellent. Another brilliant album.
