Product Notes
Richmond, Virginia native Mabel Scott was a glamor-girl singer based in Los Angeles who performed in Europe in the early 1940's and sang briefly with the Jimmie Lunceford big band. She made her first recordings in Los Angeles in 1948 which spawned the huge holiday hit, "Boogie Woogie Santa Claus." During a week-long club engagement in Chicago in May of 1953, Scott recorded the classic sides presented here backed by the Red Saunders Orchestra with guest trumpeter King Kolax. Featuring the collector's favorite, "Mr. Fine," an ode to an abusive boyfriend. All selections, newly re-mastered.
