Madame X, in it's sixth and most lavish screen version, gives glamorous Lana Turner one of the best roles of her career. Ill-fated Holly Anderson (Turner) is blackmailed by her evil mother-in-law (Constance Bennett) into leaving her politician husband (John Forsythe) and their baby. In a sad twist of faith, twenty years later she finds herself on trial for murder, inadvertently defended by her own son (Keir Dullea) contemplating on revealing her identity.
