Description
Marcus Welby, M.D. is a highly successful medical drama that aired on ABC from 1969 to 1976. Produced by David Victor and David J. O'Connell, this informative drama confronted many sensitive and controversial health and social issues that are still relevant today. Robert Young (Father Knows Best) starred as the title character, a family practitioner helped by his young assistant Dr. Steven Kiley (James Brolin) and nurse Consuelo Lopez (Elena Verdugo). In 1971, both Young and Brolin won Emmy Awards for their work, as did the show for Outstanding Dramatic Series. Young also won a Golden Globe in 1972 for his performance.
