Product Notes
Yet on her first album Sprinkled Eyes Dotschy Reinhardt broached the issue of the loss of identification of the German Sinti people in her song Sinto. Dotschy Reinhardt makes use of her prominent family name and her relation to the most important european jazz-musician of the 20th century Django Reinhardt to tell the world from her people. Her third album Pani Sindhu is an exciting and highly emotional journey into the chequered history of the Sinti people, starting with their adventurous migration fom Ancient India to Europe and all over the world. Today, the Kingdom of Sindh is located in Pakistan, where many people call themselves Sindhi. The River Sindhu, perhaps better known by many as the river Indus, has given the region it's name. Every year, Sindh celebrates the Sindhu Daya Day. The river is also a metaphor for the new CD as it carries the band further and further to the most diverse times and places, until it finally dissolves in sheer beauty. With an excellent line-up of German and Indian musicians Dotschy Reinhardt's sings her beautiful songs in the gypsy language Romanes over an unique sound mixed of gypsy jazz and Indian traditional music.
