Among the leading proponents of both was Phil Pratt, who since launching his Sunshot label in 1969 had demonstrated a keen understanding of Jamaica's musical tastes and trends, with the popularity of his output from this time earning him a reputation as one of the island's leading operators. Throughout 1974, Pratt remained at the top of his game, producing and releasing hits by some of the finest vocal talents the island had to offer, with their number including such reggae luminaries as Pat Kelly, Al Campbell, The Heptones, Horace Andy, Delroy Wilson, and Linval Thompson.
