Product Notes
Pot OGold - Hysterical 1940s classic comedy starring Jimmy Stewart, Paulette Goddard and Horace Heidt. Based on the radio show of the period, Pot O Gold is an amusing look at a failed music store owner, Jimmy Stewart and his uncle Horace Heidt, owner of a food factory who wants Stewart to come to work for him. Before Stewart goes to work for his uncle, he befriends an Irish family who are his uncles worst nightmare, as they are in-house musicians and always practicing. Stewart finds himself helping the band by placing them on his uncles radio show, and works to reconcile the family with his uncle, an avid music-hater. The radio show has promised to give away $1,000 every week, and then things begin to get very complicated. Second Chorus (1940) - Danny (Fred Astaire) and Hank (Burgess Meredith) are trumpet players in their college band, The ONeills Perennials. Always short of money they meet Ellen (Paulette Goddard) in a debt collectors office and offer her a job as their new band manager. Whilst Danny and Hank compete for Ellens affections they also vie for a job in Artie Shaws band. The films stars interplay well together complimented by great big band music from Artie Shaw.
