Jean-Francois Dandrieu was one of the most brilliant artistic figures of France's Regency period. In addition to his position as organist at the Chapelle royale, Dandrieu was a professor and a composer, producing, among other works, six Livres de Clavecin. Performed by organist Andre Isoir and harpsichordist Olivier Baumont, this anthology of works for keyboard ranges from offertories to noels and from overtures to musettes, in addition to the inclusion of a large selection of expressive character pieces. These works exemplify the stylistic evolution that occurred between the baroque and the gallant.
